Your child met the SET standard for Sutton Grammar School.
- Families of children who pass are told they met the standard, not their scores. That is the same for every child who passes.
- A qualifying SET result leads to the shared boys' second stage: written English and Maths, not multiple choice.
- The SET and second stage are added together for the rank order. Sutton Grammar's 2027 policy adjusts both stages for age and income deprivation. It does not publish a ratio between the stages.
- Passing a stage is not an offer. Offers come on National Offer Day and depend on the school's admissions policy and your council application form.

Questions parents ask
What is the Sutton SET pass mark?
There is no pass mark in advance. Scores are age-standardised and each school sets its own standard after marking, so a child can meet one school's standard and not another's.
Why were we not given a score?
Families of children who meet a school's standard are told that, and invited to the second stage, without scores. Children who do not meet any school's standard are given their standardised English and Maths scores and the total.
Does the SET score count after the second stage?
Yes. At Sutton Grammar, Wallington County and Wilson's the rank order adds the SET to the shared boys' second stage, with each school's own ratio. At Nonsuch and Wallington Girls the final total is the SET score re-standardised and halved, plus the second-stage English and Maths scores.
Can I convert a practice percentage into a SET score?
No. The SET is standardised against the children who sat it that year, and there is no universal raw-percentage pass mark. Use practice to find gaps, not to predict a result.
